Virtually everyone requires access to a mobile phone these days. It doesn’t matter if you are an 80 year old grandad or a 13 year old schoolgirl, mobile phones play an increasingly vital part of our daily lives Although there are many advantages as we know it in having a mobile phone, there are also disadvantages one may experience whilst trying to obtain one.

If you are struggling to get a pay monthly mobile phone easily, then the common reason is that you have bad credit, a low credit score or even no credit history at all. Whatever the reason, its not a good situation to be in and can be very frustrating.

Unfortunately, there are not many companies in the UK who can provide mobile phone contracts to people with bad credit history. Despite this, that is not to say that it is impossible to get connected if you have poor credit history – you just need to know where to search.

If you are suffering from credit rating problems, you should note that you will not have the same level of choices compared to someone with a good credit score. A person with poor credit history will often be restricted to which companies can offer them with finance such as credit cards, loans or mortgages – and the same is true with mobile phone contracts. Remember to be realistic as to what can be done if you have bad credit rating.

The first thing to do is to approach the main UK networks. Not many people are know that different mobile networks have different credit scoring criteria.

Another interesting fact that folk do not realise is that each time you apply for a mobile phone contract, you are actually credit checked on the actual phone and tariff combination you choose. The higher the value of the handset and tariff, the harder the credit checking procedure.

If you are worried about your credit history, then the best option is to apply with a cheap low end mobile phone on a cheap monthly tariff plan. Please note understand that you are by no means guaranteed for approval, but many people with less than perfect credit rating have managed to secure a pay monthly contract by using this simple but very effective.

If this doesn’t work for you, then take a look at the numerous SIM card contracts which have become extremely popular in the last year. Asthe name suggest, SIM only contracts come without a handset – and this means they are even easier to get accepted for. Since networks are not having to recover the cost of the usually included handset, they are much less stringent when it comes to credit scoring.

After 3 months of regular bill repayment, most networks will often allow you to upgrade your contract and pick out a free handset. Although SIM only contracts might not be the perfect solution, especially if you were hoping for a shiny new mobile phone, they are the best way to get connected if you have been declined because of adverse credit in the past.
